Shipping Domestic

Shipping large pieces takes care—but I’ve found some simple solutions for most deliveries. Orders in northern California can usually be personally delivered by me. Most west coast deliveries (California-Oregon-Washington) I’ve had great success using a small blanket-wrap delivery company.

For most other deliveries freight shipping is the easiest, quickest, and most cost-effective. I can provide an accurate quote with an idea of the piece to be shipped and your zip code.

Recent shipping example: Client buys a king-size June bed to ship to upstate New York. Too far to drive it myself (sorry!), I get a range of quotes from several freight carriers. They range from $800 total to $1000. The June bed includes, in the base price, a $300 shipping deposit that covers most local and west coast deliveries. That means that the actual extra shipping cost on top of the bed’s price is $500-700, depending on carrier selected. The client (at my suggestion) agreed shipping via Fedex Freight Priority was the best option, at around $900. The client paid the base June bed price, plus $600. I built a crate to protect the bed components in transit. Fedex picked it up, and about a week later delivered about a week later (which they scheduled ahead with that client).

The delivery is via lift gate and pallet jack, to a safe location adjacent to the street—carport or garage typically. The client is then in charge of disassembling the crate (takes a few minutes with a power drill and the right drill bit—included on the side of the crate). The pieces of the bed are wrapped in moving blankets, and assembly in your home takes about 10 minutes with a simple allen key (also included).
